Our Fabrics & Samples
About Our Fabrics
All the fabrics we offer are 100% cotton unless otherwise stated. Fabric is generally supplied on the bolt or roll will be of a width of 106-114cm (42”-44”), this will vary by fabric. We will cut your required order from the bolt or roll e.g. a Metre of fabric will get you a metre x the bolt width.
Fabrics are sold by the quarter metre and you can buy either a long or fat quarter. A long quarter is a quarter of a metre cut from the bolt so will measure approx 9 1/2 “ (25cm) x the bolt width (42”-44”), a fat quarter is a half metre cut from the bolt and then cut in half across the width of the bolt to give a more workable piece of fabric, they are approximately 18” x 22” (50cm x 56cm). We automatically assume you'll want a Fat Quarter as they are a more workable size, if you require a long quarter, please drop us a line or give us a call with your order.
Extra wide fabrics will be specifically marked as such.
We also stock fabrics that have been pre-cut to help with choosing and speed up your crafting or quilting project.
Currently we have 5" x 5" squares by Lewis & Irene (Charming Squares) and 5" x 5" squares by various designers for Moda (Charm Packs). We also stock both Lewis & Irene & Moda's 10" x 10" Square Packs (Layer Cakes/Scrumptious Squares) and Moda's Jelly Rolls which are a forty 2½" x 44" strips of fabric.
The number of squares/strips can vary by designer and by range so double check the listing for how many pieces you will receive.

Fabric & Quilt Care
We would always recommend washing fabrics in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions (usually a 30ᵒC wash, keeping darks and lights separate) before starting any project to ensure no uneven shrinkage or colour transfer, however we know how difficult it is if you want to get going!
Quilts should only ever be washed at 30ᵒC and machine washing should be kept to a minimum if you want to preserve the life span of the quilt. They should not be tumble dried.
Special care is required if a quilt has been constructed from fabrics that have not been pre-washed. A cold, hand wash is recommended for these quilts until confidence that the colour won’t run can be obtained. You can check whether the colour is likely to run by rubbing the fabric lightly with a damp tissue.
